Founded more than 100 years ago, the Irish multinational company Philips is one of the leaders in the kitchen and household electrical appliances market, offering quality appliances in various price categories.
Coffee machines are not among the top home appliances produced by the company, however, their line is quite diverse and can satisfy almost the requirements of almost every single coffee lover, and the quality and reliability of the devices produced by the company remain at a very high level.
About the brand
It was a small family enterprise, a factory that produced electric lamps. The lamps were successful, and they were even ordered for the candelabra of the Winter Palace in Russia. A few years later, the Queen of the Netherlands awarded the enterprise royal status.
There are several official representative offices of the brand in Russia, with the first one opening back in 1914 in St. Petersburg.
Philips started making coffee machines by the middle of the 20th century, but their own equipment remained at the average level of the market. In 2009, they bought the Saeco brand (and Saeco already had a subsidiary, Spidem, and the Gaggia brand, which they had previously purchased).
At one time, the coffee machines were called Philips Saeco, but then the brands were divided, leaving four brands. They are all promoted separately and positioned in their own way. Philips coffee machines are relatively inexpensive, cheaper than Saeco, but they have 90% of the same technical base, and often the models are similar.

Range
Philips automatic coffee machines are presented in several series. Often new models are slightly updated old solutions, but this does not make them any worse. We will look at what is relevant in Russia in 2020 - 2020; in other countries the product line may be slightly different.
Series 2100
In fact, it’s an updated 2000, to which an auto-cappuccino maker and several new functions were added, but the technical components remained the same. A milk jug is included.
A 1-liter water tank is enough for 2-3 coffee drinkers, but for a large group you will have to add water during the process. Models – HD8649 – 2 options in different body colors – black and silver.
Reviews from natural coffee lovers
The Philips Saeco automatic coffee machine is a popular household appliance. It is represented by a wide range of models - Intelia, Talea, Exprelia, Primea. According to customer reviews, the functional purpose, ease of use, reliability, taste of coffee and design of these models are rated unequivocally at 5 stars.
Consumers are attracted by the ability to prepare several cups of coffee at once, automatic decalcification, lighting for cups, a rotating stand, a filter and much more.
Buyers note a minimum of hassle:
- fill a special container with coffee;
- pour the water;
- add milk if desired;
- turn on the device.
A couple of minutes, and a cup of aromatic espresso or latte is at your service.
Coffee maker with coffee grinder Philips HD7761
This small coffee maker with built-in coffee grinder from Philips has a stylish design and is equipped with a convenient digital control for preparing the perfect coffee according to your preferences.
Why did we choose the HD7761 model for review? Because this is the cheapest coffee machine with a coffee grinder. There are, of course, a couple more little-known Chinese models, but here Philips is still a well-established brand.
The operating principle of the coffee machine is standard - turn it on, pour the required amount of water into the compartment, using a measuring container. Next, use the regulator to set the number of cups, the strength, and if coffee beans are used, the degree of grinding, and by double-clicking the round regulator, we start the preparation program.
All settings are reflected on the red indicator located to the left of the regulator. If you forgot to unplug it, it’s okay, the device will turn itself off in a couple of hours.
What’s nice is that the bowl is not plastic, but heat-resistant glass. But we don’t recommend knocking it too hard - if it breaks, it will be difficult, since it props up the coffee pouring valve from below, forcing it to open, and other containers may not be suitable in height.
From below, the bowl is heated by a disk heater, inside of which is a heating element. This will allow you to preheat the container while the water is boiling. So the temperature of the drink will not decrease due to pouring into a cold glass, and the taste will be more pleasant. At least that’s what all true coffee lovers recommend.
The power cord is somewhat short - a little more than a meter. Therefore, the outlet should be close to the coffee machine. But many people have switchable power filters in the kitchen for many electrical appliances, so everything is fine - an excessive length of a dangling cord is also not good.
As for the coffee grinder, it works quite quietly. We recommend turning the regulator to the finest grind so that the coffee is maximally saturated with the necessary substances. If this is not enough, and the pieces are too large, you can adjust the setting of the millstones. True, for this you will have to disassemble the case.
The total coffee preparation time is approximately 10 minutes. Once you've done everything, don't forget to remove the filter from the compartment by pulling the small plastic tab on the right side of the case towards you. We take it out and wash it thoroughly in water. If this is not done, after 2-3 days the remaining coffee will begin to bloom.

Philips HD7761 test results
Overall we are happy with the coffee maker, we have been using it for three months now, the coffee is delicious and it cooks quickly. True, it is somewhat inferior in strength to that brewed in a Turk, but this is a problem with the vast majority of drip coffee makers.
The menu is convenient, clear and logical. No one will have any difficulties connecting and setting up. The filter is synthetic, easy to clean and does not require constant replacement.
The instructions, which can be downloaded here, describe everything in detail about the use and maintenance of the device. In general, we recommend it to all coffee lovers as one of the most inexpensive models equipped with a coffee grinder.
