Coffee with a heart. How to draw a beautiful heart on coffee

Instructions

The latte art technique is as follows: something specially prepared in a special way is poured into a coffee drink and, mixed with it in a cup, creates various patterns on the surface of the coffee. In catering establishments, the barista, trained in this field, is responsible for creating latte art.

So, to create drawings on coffee, you will definitely need a coffee machine. First of all, prepare milk foam. Take whole pasteurized milk with a fat content of 3-3.5%. Pour the milk into the stainless steel pitcher, which is specially designed for latte art. The milk level should be slightly below the base of the pitcher's spout. Place the pitcher near the steam wand located on the coffee. Immerse the steam tap in the middle of the pitcher, with the holes in its tip located at a distance of 1-1.5 cm from the surface of the milk.

Open the steam tap. The milk will begin to increase in volume and foam will form. Hold the pitcher straight and lift the steam nozzle, maintaining a distance of 1-1.5 cm as the foam increases. Monitor the beating process by sound: a uniform hissing should be heard. This stage takes 5-15 seconds.

Next you need to steam the milk. Turn the pitcher so that the steam valve is located near its wall. Submerge the tip of the faucet at a distance of 1-1.5 cm from the bottom of the pitcher. Tilt the jug of milk towards you, controlling the vortex movement that arises in it. The steaming phase lasts 5-15 seconds, during which time the milk temperature reaches 65-75oC.

Close the steam valve and remove the pitcher from underneath it. Before the milk gets into the coffee drink, it should be shaken in a circular motion with your hand.

Brew thick espresso in a coffee machine. Pour the coffee into the prepared cup. For a more distinct pattern, sprinkle the resulting foam with cinnamon, grated chocolate or cocoa. Start adding milk in small portions. The pitcher's nose will serve as a “pencil” for you when creating a future drawing.

There are three basic shapes in latte art: flower, heart and apple. To create a flower, mentally divide the cup into 4 equal parts: top, bottom, right and left halves. Start pouring the milk into the top base of the cup. When the cup is half full, carefully move the flow of milk to the left side. While gently rocking the pitcher, rotate it into the right half of the cup. Pour the remaining milk in a zigzag pattern, ending at the bottom. When the cup is almost full, lift the pitcher and pour out the last portion of milk. At the same time, sharply move the pitcher's nose from bottom to top. At the final stage, a thin stream of milk seems to collect the entire pattern in the center of the cup.

To create a heart, visually draw a circle on the surface of the cup; you cannot go beyond its boundaries. Point the pitcher's nose toward the center of the cup. Fill an imaginary circle with milk by gently rocking the pitcher from side to side. Having filled the cup to the brim, lift the pitcher and use a thin stream to cross out the diameter of the circle.

To create an apple-shaped design, pour a portion of the milk froth near the far wall of the cup. This will be the branch of the future apple. Then place the pitcher's nose in the center of the cup and form a circle, as in the heart example. Carefully fill the cup with milk foam.

A cup of coffee with a pattern on milk foam is a signature feature of many coffee shops and cafes. For the establishment, this is a way to attract new visitors; for the barista, it is an opportunity to show their imagination and creativity.

Doing something like this at home for someone who has not undergone special training and does not have the same technical capabilities as a professional barista is not easy, but you have to try.

If successful, you will present your loved one not just “coffee in bed” (although this is already great), but confirmation of sincere feelings, if it is, for example, a cup with the inscription “I love you” on the foam or a drawing of a heart.

The instructions for beginning artists emphasize that the main component of success is good milk foam

, which is applied to the drawing. However, your own coffee foam is also extremely important - in a well-prepared drink, it lasts for a long time, giving the master the opportunity to create. Sometimes this foam is sprinkled with cocoa powder, and this adds additional beige shades to the traditional coffee color scheme. You can find information about the benefits and harms of cocoa powder. Read the article on how to properly froth milk for cappuccino.

Secrets of drawing for black coffee

The most important thing when painting on the surface of black coffee is to create a dense base for applying the design. One easy way to create this background is to dust the surface of the coffee with cocoa powder. Pour cocoa from a salt shaker or through a strainer into a cup of freshly prepared coffee in an even layer until a dense, dry brown base for the design is formed.

You can also use cinnamon to create the base.

On a brown surface, the design will look bright and contrasting.

What rules should you follow when drawing a cup of coffee?

To correctly depict a cup, you need to learn how to correctly draw simple geometric shapes. This can be learned in academic drawing classes.

In order for the cup to look realistic, it is necessary to correctly draw the ellipses and their opening, to understand how the position of the object and the viewing angle affect changes in the image.

Pay attention to composition. Even the simplest drawing can be turned into a masterpiece, and the most skillfully designed into a failure.

Place the item close to the top edge of the canvas. This composition is always pleasing to the eye, feel free to add additional elements, but do not overload the image.

Secrets of drawing for coffee with milk foam

For coffee with milk foam, it is the foam that will serve as the basis for painting. The foam must be dense so that the design stays on it for at least 15 minutes. The main secret to the density of the base is that the milk foam should consist of small bubbles. The technique for obtaining foam from small bubbles in modern high-pressure coffee makers is simple: it is whipped from milk cooled to 2–4°C.

The foam from large bubbles is loose and quickly settles, losing its shape, and then completely dissolving in the coffee along with the pattern.

Essential Drawing Tools

Prepare or buy a pitcher, salt shaker, wooden sticks, and a pastry syringe.

The main drawing tool is a pitcher - a metal vessel with a spout and handle, similar to a milk jug. Designed for frothing milk manually at home. In drawing on coffee it is used instead of a “pencil”.

You will also need a salt shaker filled with cocoa to create the background of the design.

Wooden sticks are useful for drawing fine lines.

A pastry syringe is needed to outline the contours. Instead of a syringe, you can use ready-made cans, tubes with a thin tip filled with liquid chocolate.

Milk heart

Prepare chilled milk. Foam it using the steamer of the coffee maker in the pitcher. Brew espresso. Sprinkle the surface of the coffee with cocoa from a salt shaker. The espresso already has its own foam, so the cocoa will not get wet or sink, but will be an excellent base for the design.

Wrap your hand around the pitcher and bend him over a cup of coffee. Foamed milk from the pitcher onto the surface of the coffee should come from a height of about 5 cm. It should be poured strictly into the center. When a white circle of the required size appears on the surface of the coffee - a blank for a milk heart, move the pitcher's nose to the place where the heart should have a depression. Bring the spout closer to the surface of the coffee at a distance of 2 cm and sharply cross out the milk circle in diameter - from the beginning of the supposed depression to the sharp tip of the heart. Finish drawing. A sharply drawn line will pull the drawing in the direction where the last drop of the drawing was made: a depression will form on the circle, and a sharp tip will form on the opposite side.

Heart pattern on coffee topping

If you think that drawing hearts on cappuccino foam is too difficult, we offer an easier option. Decorate the coffee with a pattern using a stencil and topping.

The topping is what goes on top, what we usually call sprinkles. This could be ground cinnamon, chocolate, powdered sugar, or a mixture of all of the above.

Coffee stencils can be bought in a store or made by yourself. Simply cut out a heart of the desired size in the middle of a piece of paper.

How to decorate coffee with topping using a stencil:

  • Prepare coffee and pour it into a cup.
  • Cover the cup with a stencil.
  • Sprinkle topping on top.

All. The coffee heart is ready.

Now you know several ways to draw a heart on coffee, be it milk froth on a cappuccino or a stencil and topping. We wish that your surprise to your loved one is a success.

Very beautiful drawings, it’s a pity to even drink such coffee!

Did anyone think that time would pass and people would draw on coffee? Many people are interested in how to make a drawing on coffee to make a beautiful drawing.

For example, a cappuccino will look more attractive and tastier if you draw some interesting design on its foam. This is practically not difficult to do.

Algorithm of actions

To make a design on coffee, you need a coffee machine with a milk frothing function. You can’t just beat it with a whisk. Simple battery-powered beaters are also difficult, at least until you have experience. We will talk about the methods available to you in such conditions, but later. First, let's deal with the traditional method. We take:

  • High-quality milk, preferably 3.5%. The higher the fat content, the stronger the foam you will get;
  • Coffee - don't take the best one until you learn - you'll ruin quite a lot of the product, and drinking so much espresso in a short time is harmful;
  • Pitcher, stainless steel jug for whipping. You can use any other one, but with this you will definitely feel the right temperature and be able to froth the milk to the desired degree. What you need is a jug, a metal bowl will not work;
  • Cup, preferably round;
  • A toothpick or a special thicker wooden stick;
  • Espresso machine;
  • Syrup, preferably chocolate (not for all recipes).

How to make a drawing on coffee?

    For this we will need: a cup of ready-made coffee, cream, melted chocolate, cocoa powder, a stencil, a skewer for drawing, a pastry syringe with the thinnest nozzle.

You may also need other edible decorations. This can be multi-colored coconut flakes, powdered sugar and more. It all depends only on your imagination and your capabilities. Try yourself as a talented artist.

Drawings on coffee should only be done with products that can be eaten. To do this, whip the cream until it becomes soft foam. The easiest way to make an interesting and beautiful drawing is using a stencil and cocoa.

Take the stencil, place it on the coffee and carefully sprinkle cocoa on top. Carefully remove the stencil and that’s it. The drawing is ready. It's that simple and fast. You can choose completely different drawings. It all depends on the shape of your stencil. This method works best with mocha coffee. A great combination and beautiful looking coffee in seconds.

If you want to draw the design you want on your own, without using a stencil, then you will also need your drawing skills and your imagination. For this you will need an ordinary pastry syringe. For drawing, choose the thinnest syringe and fill it with melted chocolate. Take a cup with already poured ready-made coffee and go ahead. Draw. The drawings will depend only directly on your imagination.

You can also create a beautiful design using an ordinary skewer. To do this, again, you will need a cup of coffee, cream and some melted chocolate. In a cup of coffee, stir some cream and chocolate on the surface. Now on this surface you can easily draw figures with a skewer and make beautiful drawings. Here, again, everything depends on your imagination.

To decorate these designs, you can use coconut shavings in different colors or other edible decorations. How to make a drawing on coffee, we told you all these options are simple and do not require much effort. With the help of drawings you can surprise and make a pleasant gift to your friends and family. Beautiful, simple, creative and unusual. Try it and your coffee will become more beautiful and appetizing.

Drawings made on coffee foam are called latte art. This art requires a lot of effort. Not everyone can do this. How to draw on coffee correctly to get a beautiful drawing? Before drawing on coffee foam, it takes a year, or even more time, to be able to professionally make such unusual and appetizing drawings.

If you want to surprise your guests and make them such an interesting coffee, but you have absolutely no time for training, then the following drawing methods will come to your aid. There are two of them: stencil method and engraving. The first method is the simplest method of drawing on coffee foam, and it is accessible to everyone. The essence of this drawing method is that a special lid with a stencil is placed on top of the poured cup of coffee. The surface of the stencil should be sprinkled with ground cinnamon. This stencil has special drawings

(slots) through which cinnamon will spill onto the coffee foam and thereby create an unusual and simple design. Beauty! Cinnamon will make the taste of coffee richer and more unusual, giving it a special taste and aroma. Using a stencil lid, you can make unusual designs not only from cinnamon, but also from powdered sugar, vanilla, and ground pepper. This will give the cup of coffee an attractive appearance, and the drink itself an unusual taste and bright aroma. Stencils for drawings on coffee can be purchased at the store, or made with your own hands from cardboard.

Another method of drawing on coffee is engraving. You can make it using a special syrup. You can take fruit, milk or chocolate syrup. This syrup needs to be poured with a very, very thin thread onto the coffee foam, while making patterns that interest you. Accuracy and precision of movement are important here. Not everyone can do this. Therefore, of course, it’s up to you to decide, but the first method is much simpler and easier.

In order to learn how to draw on coffee, you need to have not only imagination, but also talent. Art such as painting on coffee also has another name - latte art. This latte art skill is almost impossible to master at home; you need a specialist in this field. But as they say: “if you really want to, you can learn anything.” Today we will tell you how to draw on coffee at home.

For this activity you will need: a cup of coffee, ground coffee, fine chocolate, a coffee machine, a pitcher and cinnamon. The technique of the art of drawing on coffee is as follows: you need to take specially prepared milk and slowly pour it into the coffee drink. Then gradually stir it so that various patterns or shapes are formed on the surface of the drink. In all establishments where latte art is practiced, the person in charge is always the barista, in other words, a bartender who has completed special courses in drawing on coffee.

When creating a design on coffee, you must have a coffee maker on hand. It is necessary to prepare milk froth in the coffee machine. To do this, the milk must be pasteurized and have a fat content of 3-3.5%. This milk must be poured into a stainless steel jug (pitcher). This pitcher was invented specifically for latte art. The milk level should not exceed the base of the jug.

This container must be brought close to the steam wand located on the coffee maker. Then we lower the steam tap into the middle of the pitcher, but the hole in its tip should have a distance of 1-2 centimeters from the surface of the milk. Afterwards, you need to open the steam tap, from which milk foam will gradually form. This foam making procedure will take approximately 5 to 20 seconds.

The coffee maker needs to make very thick espresso coffee. The resulting drink must be poured into a special container. To make the design more expressive, the milk foam should be sprinkled with cinnamon or finely grated chocolate. Milk must be poured into the resulting espresso in small portions, and the spout of the jug (pitcher) will reflect the role of the pencil in creating the future drawing.

There are three main shapes in latte art: apple, heart, flower. In order to draw an apple, you need to pour milk foam onto the edge of the cup wall, which will later be displayed in the form of a sprig of this fruit. After which we place the spout of the jug (pitcher) in the center of the cup and slowly draw a circle resembling an apple. Fill the resulting circle with foam.

We draw all other figures according to the same principle as the apple. Now you know how to draw on coffee at home, be sure to try it.

Don’t worry if the drawing doesn’t work out the first time, try it and you will certainly be able to surprise your loved ones with beautiful masterpieces using your favorite drink.

By making such an unusual coffee with an aromatic design, you can surprise your friends and family every day with such a wonderful and tasty drink. This coffee will not only give you taste and aroma, but will also surprise you with its unusualness. Let meetings with your loved ones and friends become frequent and unforgettable for you!

Many people start their morning with a fragrant cup of strong coffee, but only a small part of lovers of this wonderful drink know that very interesting and unusual designs can be made on its surface! Using this method, people confess their love to each other or simply want to present a pleasant surprise to a loved one. How to make drawings on coffee is the topic of this article. Thanks to the instructions given here, you will learn the basic methods and secrets of making beautiful coffee designs.

Drawing on coffee began several centuries ago in Italy. At first, the images were mostly flowers or hearts. Today, this type of art is called latte art, and artists are called baristas or coffee bartenders who have advanced far in their creative work and can depict not only standard leaves and flowers, but also beautiful portraits and landscapes. However, can this be done at home and, most importantly, how?

Drawing on coffee at home - drawing methods

Today, among amateurs and professionals of latte art, there are, as a rule, five main techniques:

  • Etching - drawing with a thin pointed object (for example, a toothpick)
  • Pitching. Using a pitcher - a special jug made of stainless steel, you can draw a heart, flower, apple and other designs that are considered their derivatives. Pitching is the most difficult type of drawing and requires experience and a lot of time to learn.
  • Mixed technique is a combination of the first two methods.
  • 3D technique – creating three-dimensional figures on the surface of a drink.
  • Stencil is the easiest and simplest one, with which you can master the art of latte art without any special skills!

Let's take a closer look at some of these methods:

  1. The essence of the first method is as follows: you need to add whipped cream to the coffee surface (first turn it into thick foam), tint it a little with chocolate glaze and then start drawing any design with a toothpick! However, the disadvantage of this method is that not every person has good artistic abilities. Using this method, you can draw a twig with leaves, a heart or a tree, but more complex drawings (portraits, landscapes) are best done using a stencil, given the lack of preparation and lack of experience.
  2. The stencil technique is simple in that the work requires only a stencil, which can be created in any shape (drawing, inscription), and then you just need to attach it to a mug of coffee and sprinkle grated chocolate or cinnamon through the workpiece. As you can imagine, this is done quite simply and quickly!

A little about profession and art

In Italy, local residents created a separate coffee culture several centuries ago, but the profession itself - coffee bartender - appeared relatively recently - about 50 years ago. Who is a barista? This is a professional coffee bartender who prepares all types of espresso, including lungo and ristretto, as well as all cocktails (cappuccino, macchiatto, latte and coretto).

How to draw on coffee? A professional barista will answer: “Very simple.” The art of drawing on coffee has appeared quite recently, and in order to master it perfectly, it is not at all necessary to complete a professional bartender course.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a drawing

  1. Preheat the mug and brew the coffee in the Turk. You can also melt chocolate or regular instant coffee to use as a “touch-up.”
  2. How to whip cream - one way: heat pasteurized milk to 65-70 degrees, and then beat with a mixer or blender (ideally a French press).
  3. Pour whipped cream into a coffee mug, apply a stencil and start painting. Use cinnamon, chocolate or cocoa to get a clearer image.

Now you know how to make drawings on coffee. Try, experiment, and you can surprise your friends or loved one with your amazing coffee surprise!

Varieties of coffee art

Coffee painting is developing in several directions:

  • pitching – to decorate the drink, a milk frothing vessel called a “pitcher” is used;
  • etching - a design is created using foamed milk, and the artist’s tool is a pointed object;
  • cappuccino art - in addition to milk, safe edible dyes are used here;
  • multi-art – is a combination of etching and cappuccino art techniques;
  • espresso art - the “canvas” for applying patterns is the so-called “cream” - the foam on the surface of the espresso.

Recipes for making espresso coffee at home can be found.

You can make a drawing using different types of techniques. One of them is called stencil and is more suitable for beginners

, since the pattern or inscription is already cut out on a special plate, which greatly simplifies the task of the coffee artist. The second is 3D technology. It’s not hard to guess what it is: realistic, three-dimensional (they can be viewed from different angles) images are the pinnacle of latte art.

By the way, lately this technology has ceased to be the preserve of a select few. A unique Ripple Maker machine has been created, which literally in seconds reproduces drawings and inscriptions from the customer’s smartphone onto coffee foam. The maximum dimensions of the original (text, photograph, including selfies) are 180 x 95 mm.

Master class from a real “barista”

Latte art - the art of creating designs on coffee foam - requires a certain level of skill and skill. Any beginner can draw a simple heart, but creating three-dimensional images or drawings with small details requires learning.

First of all, you need to thoroughly froth the milk and pour it into the espresso correctly. The image itself is created in two ways:

  1. Regular drawing with a toothpick.
  2. Adding frothed milk using a special method.

In one case or another, a wide variety of patterns are created on the surface of the drink, ranging from simple figures to true masterpieces of coffee painting.

How to make drawings on coffee

Whatever drawing technique the master chooses, the first thing he does is prepare an invigorating, high-quality espresso or cappuccino in a coffee machine. The drink is poured into a cup or glass (as you like) and sprinkled with chocolate, cocoa powder or cinnamon on top. Thanks to these ingredients, the drawing will turn out to be especially interesting and expressive.

Then milk foam is prepared. Cream (30 percent fat content) or milk (fat content percentage of at least 3-3.5) is best suited for this purpose. The foam preparation technology involves the use of a chilled product

, which is then heated to the required temperature and at the same time whipped under pressure.

The whipping process, according to experts, should not be too long, because its goal is to achieve a slight thickening of the product

. To simplify the task, in addition to coffee machines, a special jug for milk (pitcher) is provided; use it like this:

For a beginner, this will be quite difficult to do, but experienced baristas are able to achieve the desired result in different ways:

  • placing the pitcher at different heights from the cup (thus changing the strength of the jet);
  • adjusting the speed of the jet;
  • selecting various points on the coffee surface and directing the jet at them.

To apply patterns, various thin and sharp sticks such as toothpicks are used. They are lowered into the coffee to the required depth, and then lifted, grabbing a little coffee and bringing it to a snow-white surface, and a light dark touch, geometric lines, zigzags, ovals, flowers are applied to it.

To create original coffee pictures, a confectionery syringe with a thin nozzle is also suitable; it is filled with liquid chocolate or thick syrup (caramel, strawberry, chocolate) and patterns are created directly on top of the milk foam.

If you don’t get the perfect picture, it’s better to first learn a simpler way of drawing - using a stencil, buying a ready-made one or cutting it out yourself from cardboard. The stencils should be slightly wider in diameter than the cup or mug, but the design should not extend beyond its limits.

If you are making your own stencil, try not to make the slits too thick - this will make the image look more elegant. The stencil is placed over a cup, the surface of which is covered with milk foam, and grated chocolate, cinnamon, and ground nuts are poured onto it. On the dark surface of the espresso it will be interesting to look at an image made of powdered sugar - for example, a swan, a bunny, a deer.

Technique for creating patterns and images

Latte art, as if on three pillars, stands on three basic design elements, these are:

  • heart;
  • apple;
  • rosetta (rose).

It is imperative to learn how to perform these particular drawings, then other, more complex ones will be easier, because they, as a rule, are a kind of combination of basic techniques, multiplied by the imagination of the performer. Here's how it's done.

Heart: mentally draw a circle on the surface of the coffee and fill it with milk through the spout of the pitcher (it should be directed to the center of the circle), at the final stage the pitcher is raised, the stream is made very thin and the diameter of the circle filled with milk is crossed out with it.

Apple: they begin to draw it from the wall of the cup, depicting a small twig, and then, by directing a stream of milk into the center of the cup, they create the fruit itself.

Flower (rosetta): the surface is mentally divided into 4 sectors and first the two upper “quarters” are filled, then, shaking the pinscher slightly, the lower left and lower right are filled, the last portions of milk are poured out in a zigzag motion. They complete the work, as in the case of the heart, by lifting the pitcher and crossing out the picture with a thin stream.

Tulip: this image is based on several hearts that are crossed by a milky stripe “stem”.

The following video will help you consolidate your skills:

From simple to complex

Everything is clear in theory. All that remains is to apply the knowledge in practice and understand how to do it. It is worth recalling once again the pitching technique - the basis of all the basics - and the two main figures - the heart and the “rosetta”. To get a simple one, you need to whip the milk in a special jug and carefully pour it into the espresso, while shaking the pitcher from side to side. This is necessary in order to obtain petals of different sizes. you need to hold it at an angle - this is necessary so that the coffee foam does not fall. At the very end, all that remains is to draw a thin stream of milk - a “rosetta” stem.

Drawing a heart is even easier. To do this, you need to direct the milk flow to the center of the cup, and then, swinging the pitcher from side to side, form a small circle. Having filled the cup, lift the jug and cross out the diameter of the circle with a small stream of milk. This way the circle is slightly stretched in the direction of the last movement and a charming heart is created.

Latte art is art in its truest form, mastered to perfection by professional baristas. However, anyone who wants to touch the art of coffee can create small masterpieces.

Very beautiful drawings, it’s a pity to even drink such coffee!

Did anyone think that time would pass and people would draw on coffee? Many people are interested in how to make a drawing on coffee to make a beautiful drawing.
